I should have a bunch of 4x6x10 beams coming tomorrow afternoon. Unfortunately they are untreated fir so they cannot be used in the ground but I am sure we can find a use for them.

I am not sure if Stu has been contacting anyone but if somebody out there has a portable generator that we could use to finish the berm/wall on the new bridge, please PM me or contact Stu or Rhys. It would mean the difference between completing this project tomorrow or dragging it out for another week.

a group of us met early this morning and finished the decking of the bridge. the post have been set to allow for the berm and wall section to begin construction. this is really coming together well. Thanks to all who have helped. let's keep the momentum going.
of course with the hard rain we had last night, the trail is real muddy.

What we have here, little yellow sister, is a magnificent specimen of pure Alabama Blacksnake. But it ain't too goddamned beau coup.

Ricky, thanks for the pics, Ryan I think our posts are to close to the decking and the berm will be to steep since I don't want to re-dig them what about angling the down to make the berm less of an angle before bracing them. Also I think the bracing could be done with 2x6 and not 4x4 posts cutting some cost down on the project. Look at the picture that Stu put up I think we are going overkill on some bracing material don't think it needs to hold up to much. What do you think?

Sorry i missed last weekend. I should be free this weekend. Working on weekend sucks but over time is awsome. Bridge looks great. I just need a heads up to get the generator from dad's.
Oh and I put a new chain saw blade on LOL.

No problem if we need to angle the posts. It is something that we can determine once we start. Stu said that 4x4 was cheaper than 2x6, besides I think the 4x4 will last better in the ground.

If need be you can alway extend the bottom platform towards the inside (ground) to make a wider turn.

Tim - my call was just to confirm your availabilty for Saturday and 'yes' pass the head's up to Dad if possible. Sally and I will meet up at Home Depot for 7ish and deliver the remaining materials thereafter. Should roll pretty easy since we got the posts in place already. I think tenatively we'll have Rhys, Ryan, Ricky, Sally, you, and me. Maybe Scuba again? Anyone else coming?

I don't think we need anymore posts (Ryan?) I would think the generator is the main entity along with some power tools. Rhys should have enough screws, nails, etc.

We will need something to dig in the braces although I think a shovel should do it. I will get some bolts to attach the braces and I will get a long spade bit to drill holes for the bolts. If anyone has a corded drill it would help because these holes will chew up a battery.
