I know Chuck from NOTC said he is willing to help out with "whatever" we need in order to host the Spillway Classic Trail Run in July. I think we should definitely discuss other club's involvement and participation regarding events hosted at the Spillway outside of NOMAMBO's organization at the next meeting. We should approach all outside events as a way to market the trail and the club, as well as try to re-coup some trail maintenance expenses from the organization hosting the event.

Accordingly, I would like to have a table set up at both events with our Tri flyer's, membership applications, flyer's for the time trail series, and the Spillway Scramble/Benefit flyer as well. I'll volunteer to set up the table for the Spillway Trail run in July. Hopefully someone else will be willing to do the same the day of the adventure race because my daughter's 2nd birthday party is the same day, so I will not be able to make it out there.

Let me know your thoughts...

I and 150+ others will be out there, and YES, I am ALREADY living with the guilt of knowing we are gonna be tearing around on wet trails. Sooo, when's ya'll's next work day?! lol

Holly, the next workday is scheduled for the day after the adventure race...

Steve, work day still going as planned? lol. I believe Eric has the red pop-up tent we have been using for the TT series and Kris was working on the flyers for the scramble and TT schedule. I'll touch base with Kris today to see if we can't get the flyer's to you at tomorrow's meeting or arrange another time that will work for you.

Oh, got some more grating also...

LOVE ya'll's trails! And they weren't wet! They dried up in sweet fashion from last week to this... I had a blast eatin up some single track on the bike leg today. Also had the chance to "explore" some of the nearby woods, canals, and yes, even take a little swim WITH my bike... gators?, what gators?! Good times, lol. AND we placed first... overall! Gonna check the workday time for the am... getting up at 3:30 this morning and racin today has me a WEE bit tucked out...

Congrats on the win! Took a swim with your bike? I think that is my biggest fear on our trail!
And then it came time to descend Mountain Lion trail. Descending mountain lion is like drinking a Margarita through a crazy straw on a trampoline. It's like giving a dog Pop Rocks. It's like a knife fight with a monkey. It's like necking with an octopus. http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=301909

The bike swim was on purpose, I swear!!! Navigational short cut from the trail to the levee! You will likely see the trail that was created yesterday through the woods not far below the northern point of the trail, I think nearly a half dozen other teams followed suit behind us.. We just kindly blazed the trail and scared the gators away for them! :D Did you know bikes float? It's very interesting...
Think there were actually 77?! teams of three out there yesterday?

77 teams and 1st Overall! That's awesome Holly, great job!

NOMAMBO members hello? 77 teams of 3, that's 231 people out there just dying to know some info on the trail. We really need to turn up our marketing skills and start working it to the club's advantage. We have the Spillway Scramble race and 2nd Annual Dickerson Benefit coming up September 18. That's three months to brainstorm and make this a well attended, top-notch event. 231 people on mtn bikes and not one signed up to race the Scramble?

Want to help with the event? Email ideas or suggestions to me, rat, or nomambo@gmail.com; attend meetings the 2nd Wednesday of each month, spread the word about the summer time trial series, and pre-register for the Spillway Scramble.

The next Time Trial will be June 27. 7:30 show, 8:00 GO!

Delana you are right , Can Eric get you in touch with David Poleto with the race to get some contact info for the racers and send something out via mail or e-mail?

That's a great idea Steve. I'll get him to look into obtaining the contact list from the adventure race.

I ran into Brian Smith yesterday at the NOTC Father's Day race and he had a great suggestion of a directors meeting with all the different NOLA club officials to discuss the idea's flying around regarding events at the Spillway. He kicked out about 4 fantastic ideas within the first 2 minutes of our b.s., and I know the coaches from GNO Tri club and NOTC would probably do the same. I'll see if I can arrange a meeting with everyone interested at Kona Cafe, GNO Tri's lake front facility, and dredge up some interest of all of our clubs working together to pull some of these large events off.

I saw the Spillway Classic Trail Run flyer yesterday, the race caps off at 2,000 participants!!! 2,000 runners out there, 231 some tri/adventure racers... these numbers are crazy compared to the attendance we have come to expect with past events. This meeting would be beneficial not only to recruit more interest into the club and trail, but it would be beneficial to the club to learn some of the effective marketing techniques from athletic clubs that continually host great events in this area.

btw, Steve... I have 2 more pieces of grating. I think I'm going to ride after work on Tuesday, so I'll bring them out there then.
