I think it was 1st wednesday of November? Which WAS just about the time I was planning to taper down my intensity :x . Hmm, I wonder how CX is going to be on SS....

Unfortunately they dont allow alcohol at the BR race site, but hopefully the St. Fran events should be good, as I do believe Dustin said that Mockler Beverage Co will be a sponsor. :P

Training races will hopefully start the first Wednesday night in November and end the last wednesday night in January (unless there is interest in extending it)

Unfortunately, alcohol is not allowed on BREC property but we'll have PLENTY of it at all races that allow it! If anyone has any ideas of places with lights that will let us have alcohol, we'll move there and have beer every Wednesday night!

We may have some theme-based races, so keep your tutu ready! As for intensity, CX is intense, but it wont hurt you to get some intense rides in once or twice a week. They're short races, so it wont blow you up or hurt your off-season rest. It WILL help you hold on to some hard-earned fitness over the winter.

We will do as much cyclocross as the demand calls for. I'm hoping everyone loves it and it gets really popular as it's done in other parts of the country. Looking forward to getting out there!

Thanks for the interest!

Everyone,

The race schedule has changed a bit since last week. It may change a little more before we're done, but here is the current schedule:

Saturday, Nov. 13 - Hooper Cross, Hooper Road Park, Baton Rouge, LA
Saturday, Nov. 20 - St Francisville, LA

Saturday, Dec. 4 - Baton Rouge, LA
Saturday, Dec. 11 - Jackson, MS

Saturday, Jan. 8 - Natchez, MS
Saturday, Jan. 15 - St. Francisville, LA (District championship)

The first race is all set. The flyer will be released as soon as USA Cycling gives the go-ahead to release it.

Saturday, December 18 is still available for any promoters that would like to put on a race. Email me if you're interested!

Please spread the word and check out the newly-created LAMBRAcross page on Facebook for updates.

Still no word if Wednesday night training ride is a go or not?? Trails will be too wet to ride for several days, so I'm ready to slop it up in the grass.

Well that was a pretty fun time. Then it got dark and I couldnt see the course, or the trees, or the mudholes. Probably need a couple more showers to get all the sand off.

Decided to ditch the SS mtn gearing and put on my 36t chainring, but that stretched my chain so that the biggest cog I could fit was 14t. It was a massive gear to pull, resulted in blowing up at least twice, nearly pulling a muscle in my quad, taking a dive into a beach volleyball court, 2 separate streams of blood flowing from my knee, and then...a sprint finish for second which I may or may not have won. Totally worth it!

This coming weekend Raising Cane's Racing will be putting on two cyclocross races in Baton Rouge as part of the Lambra Cyclocross Series. Saturday's race will take place at Brooks Park (next to the golf course and dog park on Dalrymple Dr.) and Sunday's race will be held at Highland Park. One day USAC licenses will be available both days. Beginners, novices, experts, and spectators are encouraged to turn out, rain or shine, and see what 'cross racing is all about! Please see the attached flyer for all of the important details. Contact information is on the flyer, and feel free to email me with questions as well. Thanks!
