Jeff Vaughn

Katherine Gividien
Jason Evers

Jason Hoggart
Chris Morgan

Meeting called to order at 6:55

-Treasurers Report: over $2,000 (strong work J ;) As a side note, we never did find anyone to fill the role of treasurer this year... Jeremy has been tripling up as pres, treasurer, and PR guy. yep.

-BRAMBA Jersey Order: August 31st!!! will be the date when all monies will be due prior to the jersey order being placed. See previous post for BRAMBA jersey style/color/sizing/cut info. Expected costs for jerseys will be $55 dollars (subject to change depending on number of orders received). If not already a BRAMBA member, a yearly membership will be included for free with the cost of the jersey.

-BRAMBA T-Shirts: $10 BRAMBA club t-shirts available, a new order is now in. Note these tees are a more fitted cut (same ones as this spring, no changes), may want one size up from usual if you want it looser.

-BRAMBA General Membership: $20 annual dues, comes with a club t-shirt.

-X-Trail Shootout, September 24th: Sponsors needed! Jason Evers has a PA system he has offered to use/run for us. Jeff Vaughn is checking into sponsorship with his company. Med City Bikes and Pedal Play are donating some swag.

-Trails: Talked with Burns about making the corrections to the orange numbered signs at Comite, the numbers after #12 are incorrect on ground vs map for several numbers. He has more stickers and will make the needed corrections.
ALSO: next trail work day MAY be in conjuction with our sister club at the Spillway! They need all hands on deck to reclaim/create their trails! Keep an eye out for more info as it is posted.

-Insurance: Will be obtaining IMBA insurance ($600/yr) this will cover group rides, trail work days, and clinics. The club had this type of insurance in the past, but it was dropped somewhere along the way. Overall vote is that the club definitely needs to re-obtain this type of insurance. BREC, via Jason Hoggart, will be happy to
coordinate trail days with BRAMBA until we obtain this coverage so any participants will be covered.
This increased cost ("of doing business") may increase the annual dues by a small amount, but is deemed necessary.
This brought up the issue of non members joining in on official group rides and such. Katherine is president of the LA Hiking club and they have also had to deal with this insurance issue. Their club has waivers for non members to sign prior to joining in on an official group activity. General consensus agreed with this idea. She will be forwarding an example and an article to us on the legalities of wording such a waiver. (We are gonna try and con Georgia into doing this for us, lol!)

-Recap of current events:
KAPOW (Kids and parents on wheels) July 2nd, Hooper Rd park, 8 am, BRAMBA (provided event insurance and volunteers) in conjunction with BREC (donated kids bike helmets) and Rcket Kids Foundation (volunteers and snacks/drinks): Kids and Parents/grandparents! all had a great time! had 10ish kids?... i might have left one or two of them on the lake trail..., we all went for a group ride on the horse trail, worked with some of the kids on going over the "bumps" in the middle of the field, split off and then the parents were lead onto a beginner group ride together while the rest of us continued riding with, pouring gatorade into, and feeding the kiddos. :) Good time was had by all!

Robin's weekly BRAMBA group rides have taken off on Thursday evenings at Comite! She is starting a separate, WOW (women on wheels), ladies ONLY! :) ride on wednesday evenings as well for fun, no-one-left-behind ladies ride.

Coming up!
-The Mt Zion trail is holding their first MTB race this Saturday (see forum for details)

-Sasquatch Stampede MTB RAce, August 7th! (see forum for details) At the Kincaid trails in Alexandria. This is the continuation of the spring races! Great trails out there!

-Baton Rouge Battle MTB Race, Spetember 25th: At the Comite trails. Next race in the series, here on our very own turf! Come out and represent!
Better than sliced bread.

Just a side note to the insurance issue. BR Tri does the same thing with non-members at events like swim clinics. Waivers are provided for those who aren't covered by the club's USAT insurance.

Talk to me (Jeff) at the meeting on Monday. I'll be gathering money and jersey style/sizes from people.
