May BREC/BRAMBA Workday

May BREC/BRAMBA Workday

Postby ray m » Tue May 15, 2012 6:17 pm

Our May workday will be held at Comite this Saturday the 19th. Meet in the Comite parking lot at 8:00AM

For this workday we will concentrate on cutting back faceslappers.

Tools to bring are clippers, loppers, and possibly small hand (not powered) saws.

Ride afterward.

Thanks

Was thinking of coming to the work day this month. I am new to the sport and have been wanting to try out the trails. Figured this would be a good way to meet some people that ride as well. And hopefully someone would be willing to go at a little slower pace to show me the trails.

Yes, come on out we have had some good turnouts lately, it is a good way to get to know the trails meet other riders,

Might have a few people go on a "clip and ride" and hit the worst spots with rose clippers, that can be eaisly carried on a bike and otheres walk with loppers to do a more thorough job.

I going to get there at 6 and start chopping. Hey Trek90, my brother is meeting me around 9-9:30 and hasn't rode in a long time. We will be doing a slow lap around that time and u are welcome to join.

Thanks to all who came out today to help maintain the trail. We had ten volunters, We basically met at the parking lot, then scattered, and folks went to the problem areas they kenw about and took care of them. I think between us all we covered the entire Comite side with at least a light trimming. So the trail should be open and fast. Go Ride.

The next workday will be in June, most likely at Hopper so if you know of anything that needs work over there, post it.

Thanks,

Ray - sorry we were late, but Yvette and I both worked from 8:30am to 11:30am. We went into the trail backwards and took out the big overgrown canopy that you had to duck under coming around a blind corner and then continued making our way back from there. Went back at 4:00pm to ride and the trail looks fantastic!! Good job everyone!
After seeing Hooper on Thursday - it along with the connection trail both seriously need some love.
